Marketing Manager for VIPsports.com, Fredrik Wadstein, recently announced that VIPsports.com would be continuing their sponsorship of the ParkerTech Racing Services Dodge Stratus Top Alcohol Funny Car for the 2006 National Hot Rod Association season. The 2005 season delivered far more than we could have imagined," he said. "Several of us attended our first professional drag race and were positively awed by the sights, sounds, aromas and excitement of NHRA racing. Nothing we had ever read or watched on television prepared us for such an enthralling experience. Signing up for a second season with ParkerTech was on our minds after the very first race", said Wadstein who was quite pleased to deliver the news. "We sponsor many activities around the globe, but 2005 marked our first venture into the world of NHRA Drag Racing. Television coverage indicated great sponsorship potential, which piqued our interest. One of our regional managers introduced us to ParkerTech Racing Services, we all hit it off just grand and VIPsports.com was off to the races," added Wadstein. Equally pleased with the news was Frank Parker, the car’s owner. "We had a great 2005 season with VIPsports.com. Their support allowed us to field a new McKinney chassis with one of the first top fuel Dodge Stratus bodies adapted to alcohol cars. With VIP's return in 2006, the competitive strength we built in 2005 will be even better", said Parker. He further added that VIPsports.com’s enthusiasm with the event prompted the company to add two more NHRA National events to the team's 2006 schedule. According to Parker, his father, veteran Sportsman racer Dan Parker, will be returning to share crew chief duties along with other returning crew members Rob Cunningham, Tom Cunningham, Tom Krebaum, Tom McVey, Nancy McVey, Tony Gulley and Brad Eldred. The team’s driver, Danny Townsend of Muncie, Indiana, had only positive comments about the people at VIPsports.com. "I was impressed with the folks from VIPsports.com and I'm glad they'll be with us again in 2006," Townsend said. "The company officers that came to the races struck me as straight-forward and conscientious folks. And, they were a lot of fun -- it was like being at the races with your buddies."
