After awarding “Play it Safe” seals to ten additional online casinos, the eCommerce and Online Regulation Assurance (eCOGRA) organization now lists 66 top online casinos that are committed to its player-protection standards.
"There is significant value in the eCOGRA initiative in terms of increased business efficiency and as a highly professional vehicle to prove our commitment to superior service and fair gaming for the online casino player," he said. eCOGRA’s members presently account for seventy to eighty percent of the online casino industry action and the ten new casinos bring the total number of online casinos and poke rooms officially abiding by eCOGRA standards up to 66. Andrew Beveridge, CEO of eCOGRA, said that eCOGRA is also currently considering other top quality operations, and that the eCOGRA initiative to present the online casino gambling community with a wide range of safe, honest and efficient online casino and poker room venues continues to gather momentum. "We expect to make further announcements early in 2006," he said. "Interest in the eCOGRA standards is growing from players, casinos, leading poker rooms and software providers alike, and membership continues to be open to any software provider that is prepared to commit to our goals and principles." A basic requirement of eCOGRA for its online casino members is that they are financially stable and have adequate reserves to cover wagers. Additionally, the probity of casino management is scrutinized, as well as the casino’s general operation efficiency, its financial facilities, games fairness, payout times, player protection measures, and responsive support. The eCOGRA inspection team also verifies that sufficient policies are in place for communicating with clients and for dealing with any player complaints. Finally, the organization checks for satisfactory technical capabilities and anti money-laundering systems. The awarding of the “Play it Safe” seal, standards and requirements, and inspection and monitoring are the responsibility of independent directors on the eCOGRA board.
