Coast-to-coast flights just got a lot more interesting with the introduction of Texas Hold’em poker to the on-demand digital entertainment systems aboard Delta Airlines. The airline company is making the game available on its digital entertainment systems, which are found at every airplane seat, on all four-hour flights or those over 1,750 miles. Travelers beginning their flight in cities such as Seattle, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Atlanta and New York will soon have the opportunity to benefit from this new form of airline entertainment, giving Delta a slight competitive edge over other airlines. “Our focus for this industry-leading service is on the highest-volume transcontinental markets from Atlanta and New York City where Delta is a major competitor for long-haul customer loyalty," said Delta’s Chief Operating Officer, Jim Whitehurst. "Improvements to our domestic product complement our international growth and the overall transformation of our network. Going forward, this new service will also be available to customers flying from Florida to the West Coast, as well as on many of our overseas routes, as we continue making improvements to our international BusinessElite and international coach class products." If a customer wants to learn which flights offer the Texas Hold’em poker option, they can check the Delta Airline web site, which uses a TV icon to indicate those flights. Delta is expecting to have all flights originating from JFK and flying to the west coast outfitted with the on-demand-service by late November. Posted on: September 21, 2006
