Thanks to the satellite tournaments offered over the Internet by gambling group 888.com every Sunday, interested poker players looking for a sponsored seat in the 2006 UK Poker Open Championships still have the opportunity to qualify. 888.com made the announcement about the satellite tournaments early this week. The actual championships begin on September 5th and continue through October 8th. They will be held in Maidstone, England. Players, however, can still earn a place in the championship, through Internet play, for the minimal amount of $100 plus $5 buy-in. September 17th is the date of the last qualifier for the Open. 888.com’s site is also offering free super satellites everyday where players can win their way into the Sunday qualifier. "In the U.K. Open our online poker players will have the opportunity to play real live high-class poker, meet great poker pros, and take part in one of the most high-action tournaments in Europe," said 888.com’s promotions department manager, Mike Herea. Competing for the $500,000 prize pool at the tournament will be online poker players as well as professional poker players. Challenge TV will be broadcasting the event every day at 11 p.m. on Challenge TV. Posted on: September 4, 2006
