As a result of a contract signed by Coral.co.uk., the major gambling company will soon become a key partner of Premier Rugby and the Guinness Premiership. The contract commits Coral.co.uk to backing rugby at a professional club level for the next two years. Following its title sponsorship of the Middlesex Sevens earlier this month, Coral.co.uk confirmed this week that it has secured a groundbreaking sponsorship deal with Guinness Premiership. The deal involves the branding on the reverse side of all the Guinness Premiership clubs’ playing shirts. The branding will be incorporated as part of the number patch and will provide a connection between betting, numbers, and statistics. By committing to the sponsorship, Coral.co.uk, will be supporting a program of activities that benefits the twelve Guinness Premiership clubs via a donation “bounce back” scheme that directly rewards clubs when their supporters open an account with the company. The program will also include data sharing and innovative bets that involve financial rewards for clubs. There will also be a celebrity supporter betting challenge whereby clubs can raise money for their development programs. Playing a key role in the sponsorship, will be Matt Dawson, the former London Wasps, Northampton Saints and England scrum half who has signed on as the Coral.co.uk ambassador and will be hosting a number of poker nights for club supporters from all over the country. Throughout the season, Coral will be announcing details about its plans to involve players and supporters in a number of tests and fun activities. They will also be offering an extensive variety of betting options on the Guinness Premiership including Coral.co.uk 'Pick 6' bet. This innovative betting option allows rugby fans to predict the outcome of each game within each round of fixtures. Fun bets as well as markets on each week’s round of matches and on the performances of individual players will also be offered. “This sponsorship is truly exciting for us as it is the first time we have become involved with a sport outside our traditional racing environment for some time. The sport of rugby union has real momentum at present and we are looking forward to contributing to that especially at club level. We intend to be pro-active and get involved with clubs and their supporters across the season”, said Coral’s E-Commerce Managing Director, Dominic Harrison. Anyone looking to view a comprehensive statistical database on ten years of professional rugby, can check out the website at www.coral.co.uk/rugby.
