Moreover, the people of Ohio has more reasons to be excited as another casino is expected to follow suit—the Hollywood Casino Toledo. It will be officially operational on the 29th of May. The good news doesn’t stop there as rumor has it that there are two more casinos queued up to open. These two casinos are reportedly located in Cincinnati and Columbus.
The Horseshoe Casino Cleveland project was made into reality, primarily, due to the revenue taken from the project built for the Higbee department store in Cleveland. Currently, the casino is already fully functional on its initial phase. The second phase, which involves the construction of a separate building, is already underway.
The casino project was approved under the condition that it would provide additional employment opportunities in the northeast region of Ohio by allocating at least 90% of its workforce to the aforementioned. Needless to say, Horseshoe Casino Cleveland stayed true to its word—94 percent of the casino’s workforce came from Buckeye, Cleveland.
Unlike the common casinos located elsewhere, Horseshoe Casino Cleveland doesn’t have a hotel. This is what sets this Caesars-owned casino apart from the rest of the casinos in the block.
Jeff Cohen, the speaker for the Caesars entertainment, explained that they want tourists to enjoy the amenities that downtown Cleveland could offer. Instead of providing everything tourists may want and need in a single package, they decided to discard the original resort and hotel project and proceed with the casino project. The project shift would ultimately drive the tourism business and its benefits would slowly trickle down the block of Cleveland.
Over the past few years, the Ohio tourism industry has been hit by hard times as it struggled to stay in step with the tourism campaigns of neighboring states. With the limited attractions, Ohio has been finding it extremely hard in attracting more tourists to visit the place. Aside from the iconic Rock and Roll House of fame, Cleveland doesn’t have much else to offer tourists and entertainment seekers.
Fortunately, the Horseshoe Casino Cleveland comes as a welcome development. New and happy faces are starting to crowd the downtown and, finally, figures for the tourism industry are skyrocketing. With the casinos coupled with the continued efforts to develop the state attractions, Ohio is easily becoming one of the favorite picks for tourists.
