This has been a great summer for online gambling. We would gather around the computer at about 7 in the evening, and nibble at the finger-food that came in from the caterers, open a few beers and gamble until the early hours of the morning. Great fun! It was on one such evening that I threw in a huge ante at the start of another Texas Hold’em game and got myself distracted for a few minutes. When I looked down the hand had passed around the table and the second round betting was going on. I matched my ante and then looked at my cards – a 3 and a 7. I should have folded! A hand like this will go nowhere in the online casino. Guess what, the flop was a 3, 7 and a Jack and I was sitting with two pairs. The turn was a 9 and I collapsed when the river turned out to be a 3, giving me full house and big enough to take the jackpot. I loved that online casino. Tonight will be different. Tammy, the widow from the 36th floor and I often bump in the elevator or the lobby. We nod to each other. As soon as I heard the snow forecast I hung around the lobby and sure enough she appeared. “How about a little online gambling this evening at my place?” I stammered. “Sound great! I’ll bring wine,” she smiled. So it’s all arranged. I lugged logs of wood upstairs for the fire; I brushed the huge fluffy white rug, fired up the laptop and logged into the online casino. I also washed and polished two very tall wine glasses. Tammy arrived soon after, carrying two bottles of ice-cold dry white wine. We started the evening by toasting each other, more than once actually. Then we decided to play roulette and I adjusted things in the online casino, then we drank another toast and finally it was time to place our bets. “Let’s play a different version of roulette,” suggested Tammy. “I am red and you are black. Every time the ball drops in a red I will lose something and if it’s black you will lose. Okay?” Who says online gambling is boring? Posted on: November 25, 2009
