Of course I thought that our travel agent had been exaggerating. How can the lines be so long that there is time to read a book? In fact she had understated the case. We spoke to people who had been standing there for 3 hours and more. It didn’t worry me. I opened my laptop, connected up to the airport WiFi system and logged into the online casino. I click on Craps and turn the sound up to full volume. The shooter throws the dice and the crowd yells and even through the puny speakers of the laptop one can hear the noise of the dice rolling across the table, the dealer giving instructions and the crowd yelling. A few people turn around to see what’s going on and I keep my head down and keep rolling the dice. The line moves forward one step and I get quite excited – signs of progress! Perhaps we may even board a plane this day. My online casino game is going well and I am, well not raking in the money, but I am having fun and making slow but steady progress. I hit a double six and despite myself and the fact that I am surrounded by people, I let out a wild “Yahoo!” Well, anyone playing in an online casino would do so at a win like that. A double six carries thirty to one odds for the simple reason that it hardly ever happens. Out of the corner of my eye, I see two men in airport security uniforms pushing their way through the crowds and then there is one on each side of me. They grab my arms and I just manage to stop the laptop crashing to the floor. “What do you think you’re doing, buddy?” they snarl and I explain lamely that I’m gambling online to stop myself going crazy waiting in line. They lift me off my feet and carry me and my laptop to the door. “Show us!” they bark and I place a bet and show them. Have you ever heard of a craps player shooting two double sixes in a row?
