After three days of intensive competition in the $2 million No Limit Texas Hold’em tournament sponsored by River Rock Casino, Canadian poker player, David Ross White of Abbotsford British Columbia, beat out 784 other players to take first prize. White, who already has plans for the money, collected his prize of $600,000 and an expensive watch after playing for 32 hours. “I feel fantastic” said White. “I think we’ll use this money to pay off some debt and go on a holiday. We’re going to have a great time!” The tournament, held not far from Vancouver International airport, is the second major poker event to be run by River Rock Casino, attracting players from all over the Canada and the U.S., including Alberta, Ontario, Nova Scotia, and the Yukon as well as from the U.S. states of California, Florida, Nevada, Texas, and Washington. Several well-known poker players, such as Gavin Smith and Johnny Chan, attended the big money tournament. The second place winner was Alaskan Derrick Law who brought $290,000 back with him to his home in the Yukon. Posted on: December 12, 2006
