Bowman International, a British-owned online gambling group operating from the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean, has decided to cease its operations in the United States and transfer its U.S. customers to Costa Rica-based Bodog, one of the fastest growing online gambling groups around. While it has not been confirmed, it is suspected that the decision by Bowman International was prompted by the recent passage in Congress of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, a severely anti-online gambling measure that prohibits financial transactions between U.S. residents and online casinos and sports books. Bowman International recently released a statement to its players in the U.S. stating that, effective November 28th, 2006, all of Bowman.com’s players registered in the U.S. would be transferred to Bodog who will, from that time on, provide all of their online gaming and telephone betting services. Bowman International described Bodog as “An established player in the e-gaming industry, Antigua-based Bodog is one of the world's fastest growing media and digital entertainment companies. As a new Bodog customer, you will have full access to their comprehensive suite of online gaming and betting services”. Information concerning a possible financial deal between the two companies was not released. Bodog has agreed to honor all bets and deposits and will be sending an email to all of the transferred customers that will include details on new account numbers and a special “thank you” offer from Bodog. All account details for registered Bowman International players will be passed to Bodog. Both Bodog and Bowmans have signed confidentiality agreements promising to keep all customer data confidential between the two companies. Posted on: December 6, 2006
