During the weekend, a high gaming official claimed that on the assumption that British firms do not keep their promises to grant four million pounds to the Responsibility in Gambling Trust for stopping the issue of minors gambling, it is possible that they would be charged a fine. Timesonline claimed that Gala Coral Group's CEO, Neil Goulden, told them that the legal government fine is a result of the unsuccessful attempt of the industry to uphold their promise donations. A charity known as RIGT, the Responsibility in Gambling Trust, was supposed to receive from the gambling industry four million pounds which it had concurred to recruit at the start of the year. Purposes of education, treatment and commissioned research are the objectives for this money. Only three major league firms, Gala Coral, William Hill and Ladbrokes have to date, nevertheless, donated the biggest amount, namely one point seven million pounds. Four hundred and fifty thousand pounds each has been agreed to by the three firms. At the industry's conference tomorrow and to be in the presence of the Gambling Commission's ministers, Goulden will make a warning and claims that the set goal is still missing two million pounds sterling. This cannot be accepted. According to him, companies have to contribute immediately; they must not be apathetic in regard to the problems in the gambling industry. According to him he continued to say that it should come as no surprise if we are levied with a legal payment when the industry is not prepared to donate to the RiGT. Such a result would be to the industry's detriment. He further added that is could also indicate that higher payments would be the lot of the smaller firms. Posted on: November 5, 2007
