According to comScore Networks, a company that specializes in measuring Internet activity, the top European Internet properties for September were, as usual, Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft. The three sites retained their rankings as Europe’s top Internet properties, with each remaining relatively flat versus August. Data used for the report indicated that online gambling saw a general traffic increase in Europe of three percent, with 888.com seeing a nine percent increase bringing the number of visitors to its site to 6.9 million. PartyGaming came in second in terms of numbers of visitors with that number reaching 4.1 million, reflecting a 16 percent increase. The report, however, does not yet reflect the impact of the Unlawful Gaming Enforcement Act since the statistics are only for the month of September. The information about Internet activity provided by comScore Networks is based on data the company collected via its comScore World Metrix audience rating service. Wikipedia saw the greatest increase in September of all 10 European sites, rising 18 percent to 59.9 million visitors. The You Tube site, which was recently purchased by Google in a billion dollar deal, attracted some 27.4 million visitors. Posted on: November 19, 2006
