Puls Biznesu, the Polish newspaper, reports that in Poland gambling has evolved into a major business, and the Polish people are probably going to pay out some seven point six three billion dollars this year, 2008, on gambling, as the participants in gambling utilize twice the time they previously did two years back, and on gambling fun by doubling their expenses on beer and medical care. According to this Warsaw Publication, the climbing trend is progressing and the market in gambling could reach in 2009 the value of the mobile telecommunication field. Statistics put out by the Ministry of Finance show that last year people in Poland paid out five point three five billion dollars on gambling, which is a growth over 2006 of forty seven point five percent. For 2008, the forecast is that this rate will grow by about two point two three billion dollars, namely, a further forty percent. According to the newspaper report the most favorite gambling game in Poland is the slot machine. In approximately eighteen thousand gas stations, bars and pubs some thirty five thousand machines operate. Last year, almost twice as much as in 2006 was gambled on fruit machines to the total of two point one eight billion dollars, where the state appropriated lottery firm Totalisator Sportowy in 2007 brought in one point two four billion dollars which over the previous year is a twenty percent growth.
