In Lanzhou, Gansu Province, the World Poker Tour, WPT, China National Traktor Poker Tour inaugurated its starting Provincial Champions in a historic day noting the metamorphosis of Tuo La Ji, or Traktor Poker, from a conventional people's game to a an official accepted sport by the China Leisure Sports Administrative Center, know as the CLSAC. The province's finest competitors were invited for the contest for the Tour's opening game, approved by the CLSAC – which is the national Sports Federation that runs the Leisure Sports subject to the China State Sports Administration, and where the only partner in the marketing sphere, WPT Enterprises, WPTE, are the Tour's sponsors. The famous city Lanzhou located on the Silk Road, known for its ancient culture, where Lanzhou's sport center is situated and which was packed completely with four hundred and eighteen competitors who fought it out for the duration of three days to decide the teams to represent in the National Tour Grand Final the Gansu Province. The two residents of Lanzhou City, Zhu An Men and Chen Haili, who led the winning team, raised a total of five thousand ninety points to reap the Gansu Provincial Title in the experience players' tough fighting rounds. According to the CLSAC's Secretary General, Xing Xiao, a historic poker day for China will be October 12, as the legitimate National Sport has been joined by the favorite people's game of Traktor poker which has had its status accordingly raised. The tournament represented the start of fifteen beginning Regional Preliminary contests in the course of the opening season running from October 2007 up to April 2008 and which are to take place on weekends across China. The team format governs the tour play where qualifying for the Grand Final is made by teams in each tour city. WPTE's Chief Operating Officer, Peter Hughes, who was present at the Lanzhou's contest, stated that the first Provincial Champions are proudly accepted. Furthermore, it has been shown by the Gansu tournament that this new idea can be implemented in China with success. He further claimed that the opening event is a sure sign of the expected Tour's success.
