The findings from a recently conducted study on Internet use indicate that approximately ten percent of Internet users regularly gamble online. The primary objective of the study, which was conducted by US-based Parks Associates and titled “Digital Media Habits”, was to examine the increasing interaction between converging online technologies, such as video uploading. Currently, about eight percent of online users practice video uploading to a variety of sites. The numerous Internet-related applications that are now built-in to the latest cell phones, such as digital recording and online gambling capability, have made penetration into the cell phone market so continuous, that the increased activity we are seeing today is the likely result. According to Parks Associates at a minimum, a quarter of all Internet users also own a cell phone. There were approximately 2060 Internet users surveyed for the Parks study which had a margin of error plus or minus two percent. Apparently, there is also a correlation between the number of online gamblers and respondents who listen to podcasts at ten and eleven percent, respectively. Posted on: October 3, 2006
