As a result of recent anti-online gambling legislation in the U.S. the e-payment processor, Fireone, has declared that it will cease processing of online credit card transactions for online gambling in the United States. The new U.S. legislation targets online gambling financial transactions as a way of hindering online gambling operations in the U.S. The legislation is due to be signed by the President this week. Fireone does plan to continue processing online gambling credit and debit card transactions in multiple currencies as well as FirePay electronic wallet processing for its customers living outside of the U.S. and not affected by the new legislation. Fireone said it would also be considering card-not-present payment processing opportunities outside of online gambling. Posted on: October 16, 2006
