On the Isle of Man, the Gambling Supervision Commission, which serves as a licensing jurisdiction for many highly regarded online gambling firms, has announced the selection of Steve Brennan as its new director. Brennan, was formerly a senior manager in the government's Treasury department Income Tax Division. It is understood that this experience will provide resources to the island's licensing authorities. In his new position, Brennan will take responsibility for the licensing and regulation of all of the online and terrestrial gambling activities of the authority. This is to include the Island's betting and lotteries, casino, and amusement and slot machines. Initially established in 1962, the Gambling Supervision Commission is a corporate which is made up of a Chairman and four members. Included among the regulatory foundational principles that the Commission upholds are keeping the gambling industry free from crime, protecting young and vulnerable players, and making sure that the facilities made available by licensees are fair and that players receive their actual winnings. With three Gambling Supervision inspectors and a senior secretary, the Isle of Man Treasury provides a committed resource to the Gambling Control Commission.
