As a result of an exclusive arrangement with online betting exchange Betfair, Orbis, a British subsidiary of the NDS group, recently announced plans to introduce a new service that promises to “revolutionize” the online sportsbetting industry. Making this service possible is the Betfair interface model that allows major Orbis’ clients such as Betway, Blue Square, Globet, IGH, Ladbrokes, Littlewoods, Paddy Power, Sky Bet, Tote, UK Betting PLC, and Victor Chandler to seamlessly interact directly with the Betfair system via a data feed. The interface provides easy access to Betfair events, markets, and prices. Because of the Betfair-Orbis partnership, clients using the Orbis OpenBet platform will be able to offer more competitive prices to their customers as well as access to a broader range of events. The partnership is the only one of its kind and represents a landmark deal for the online gaming industry. Many bookmakers use the Orbis OpenBet system, which offers a complete gaming portfolio solution, enabling customers to place their bets via multiple channels and products from one single account, all processed through one back office. Orbis’ Managing Director, David Loveday, commented: “This is a truly individual partnership. Our collaboration with Betfair will permit Orbis OpenBet customers to benefit from a ground breaking new service. This deal minimizes risk for operators, with the ability to offer more competitive prices delivered via the Betfair Exchange.” Posted on: July 10, 2006
