Since the founding of this Task Force, many Alabama citizens are now without a job, and with this Task Force pointing its arrows on Greenetrack, the largest employer in the county, it looks like thousands more are about to suffer the same fate.
On Tuesday the 28th of June, the companies facilities were raided by Riley's Task Force, and a large amount of bingo equipment was confiscated. Later that day the raid was terminated by Judge Hardaway, but the state is not about to let it go and had filed for appeal, in the afternoon, that very same day.
Since the founding of Riley's Task Force, thousands of jobs may already have been lost, and where other states are making drastic changes to their gambling legislation, in order to fill their budgetary gaps, it looks like the budget gap, caused by the recent economical recession, is only going to get larger, due to missed income from gambling tax revenues.
Because of this the criticism of Riley and his actions has been steadily increasing over the last months, and the issue may very well become a determining factor in the coming election as to which candidate will take over from Riley and become his successor.
Attempts to take control of Riley's Task Force, haven been made, but were foiled by the Supreme Court ruling, where it was stated that Governor Riley was within his rights to create such a Force. Since then the same Supreme Court has ruled in favor of Governor Riley on several occasions, putting a stop to the attempts of the Attorney General to seize control of the Force.
