At the splendid Johannesburg Montecasino complex, the inaugural South African Poker Open was launched and reached its finale this week following a wonderful show of skill by All Africa poker top players, veterans and qualifiers of Internet contests. The first ten participants entered the cash kitty where the prize pool reached two million Rands, that is, $280,607.47, when some one hundred and five participants took part in the tournament that was televised on television. In a hard eight hour alert fight between Danny K, the chip leader, and Jaime Vilela, the former All African second best, it only came to an end when the 2007 South African Poker Open championship went Danny K after Vilela's four of a kind put the crown on his head. It was a milestone occasion for the contest for an American participant who journeyed to South Africa after success as an Internet qualifier at the Poker Time.com website and having all his expenses paid. Ryan S had a great time on his visit to South African although he lost at the final table before heads up, and after the contest was taken around to the tourist spots by his hosts from Poker Time.
