Is France on the threshold of an affirmative change in its monopolistic method toward gambling? According to the media in France, it seems likely, as in reports that the government of Sarkozy intends to free up France’s Internet gambling atmosphere by applying a system which is both more transparent and competitively regulated. Having already entered in–depth discussions, France has been hammering out its protection policies with officials of the European Commission, and has received from their enforcement institution various warnings. Actual change could only come about with the motivation of a presidential change, causing France to adhere to the European Union’s demands for the open trade and services movement among the countries who are members in the European Union. Despite the fact that the European Commission has not remarked on the reports in the media, the chief of the Partouche casino group, Patrick Partouche, claims that the news is welcoming, though the warned that the legalities might be time consuming until enactment, and there is a chance that Francaise de Jeux, the French monopoly, might endeavor to stall the enactment as long as it can.
