Szerencsejtk, Hungary's state gambling company, does not possibly enjoy foreign online competition, however, it does seem that it does not view any difficulty in the expansion of its own spheres on the Internet. A public auction, according to the Chief Executive Officer Gbor Szkely, will be performed for acquiring equipment related information technology to enable the expanding of his company's services for Internet gambling. He remarked that due to the drawn out judicial process, the launching of some game could take up to eighteen months. Foreign residents are prohibited from playing a number of games, such as lotteries, as they have no bank accounts in Hungary or registered addresses. The European Commission, at the previous year's end, asked Hungary to make its betting market in sports available to additional member states of the European Union, a EU principle of allowing services and goods to flow freely. During the previous year, an assessed fifteen billion Ft were gambled on the Internet by sports fans in Hungary. Posted on: April 26, 2007
