The Caribbean island nations of Antigua and Barbuda will be hosting a training workshop on how to combat money laundering this week. The workshop will last for one week and is being presented by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in collaboration with the Financial Sector Reform and Strengthening (FIRST) Initiative, and the Office of National Drug and Money Laundering Control Policy (ONDCP). Attendees of the workshop will be regulators of online casinos and Internet gambling operations. Kay McDonald, the Director of Gaming in the Financial Services Regulatory Commission, said that the workshop will be highly interactive, thereby providing a forum for reviewing new international standards that may be applied to casinos and online gaming entities and their regulators. The conference is also supposed to consider and examine the primary vulnerabilities and money laundering risks to which the online gambling industry is exposed. Posted on: March 18, 2006
