eBay patrons and online gamblers alike can now find their new mobile casino at e-BAY. The Internet auction site will soon put up for auction a mobile multiplayer poker platform and a mobile multiplayer chess game called ChessEverywhere. Unlike previous attempted rip-off deals involving affiliate websites, with e-BAY, the successful bidder receives all of the source code to the cell phone clients and Java server, as well as domain names and the ASP.Net Web sites that support wireless delivery of the products. The mobile platform, called Maui Texas Hold ‘em, includes Texas Hold ‘em on cell phones allowing up to eight players at one time. The platform is also able to support standalone play for off-network use. Sellers claim that the platform has been tested for use on over fifty different types of phones including the Nokia Series 40 and Series 60 as well as Sprint PCS Vision and Sony. Additionally, the base platform supports chess in both multiplayer and standalone format. A mobile-to-desktop option is provided through a Telnet-based interface for connection to Internet Chess Services. The server-side multiplayer platform is Java 5 and connects to a MySQL database. Thousands of lines of server-side and client-side Java and Java 2 Micro Edition code are included with this auction and hundreds of JavaDocs documentation pages are also included. Further, automated creation of clients is supported through the Ant build system included with the auction. Lastly, the sale also includes a Net-based platform for wireless delivery of the client software to handsets. This system of delivery is also referred to as “over-the-air” or OTA delivery. The platform connects to a MySQL database and is implemented using C# code-behind. Posted on: February 19, 2006
