Hi everyone, thankyou for letting me join your forum :) I am in the UK and have never played in an online casino before and it's been about thirty years since I went to a real casino, and that was for an interview as a croupier. I had not long left school at the time and was looking for work. I actually got the job offered to me but it wasnt the only offer I had at the time and I accepted the other job as I would have had to work for peanuts for about 12 weeks until I had been trained if I took the croupier job. Anyway I have been contemplating having a crack at the online casinos so thought I'd sign up at a few forums and hopefully get pointed in the right direction. ;)

Hi r_r, it was nowhere near as exciting as working in a casino as a croupier, I took a job as an accounts clerk. :o But like I said it was because of money, I wasn't prepared to work for basically nothing whilst training. On hindsight I wish I had of done, I could possibly be in Las vegas now :D

Hi bingo,
I'm not sure what games I am into playing, for the past few years I have been playing FPS games like Battlefield and Call of Duty but you cant win money playing those :D I dont mind playing card games so I think poker would be a good place to start, or maybe some blackjack.

A FPS fan hey , I love them games myself, especially Battlefield 2 , last time I checked I think I was a lieutenant colonel, took me over 2 years to reach that as well. :o I haven't played for a while though, I dont have as much free time anymore :( and I have been getting into the bingo scene when I do get a bit of free time.

Hi Zeppy , welcome to the board.

You can if you are lucky enough to get chosen to enter into some of those massive tournaments you see with big cash prizes at the end of them. But I know what you mean. Have a go at craps, its simple, quick and fun. You can try it out for free at most places anyway before you start to part with any cash.

Hi crappy, I am not that good at the games, definitley not good enough to enter into any tournaments :o I have never played craps before either although I do own a few sets of dice that came out of a cracker or two sometime in the past. Just never bothered to learn how to play and they are now at the bottom of some draw somewhere. I think I'll start with some card games, just not sure which games.

The easiest to play has got to be blackjack or pontoon as we call it here in the UK. Just join one of the big named casinos and play for free to get a feel of it.

Hey crappy, I was going to play blackjack as you suggested on 1 of the big named casinos for free. I chose 888 as it seemed like a good place to start but when I clicked to install the software I was confronted with this from Zonealarm.

Is this normal?

Yes. Zonealarm and other third party firewalls will say something similar. It is quite safe. I assume they say the software contains spyware or malware as casino software is usually full of advertising and such.

I think the firewalls we get today are a bit too over protective. I have been using a free one called Comodo which does the firewall and antivirus all in one. That too says something similar when trying to download casino software. As long as its your pc and not a works computer it should be fine. I dont think your employer would take too kindly to you downloading casino software onto a works computer. :D

Blackjack is purely a game of luck and no skill involved unless you are a professional player and can count cards which will get you banned from any land based casino anyway. However when playing poker you are playing against other poker players and not the House, this is where the fun factor comes in. :D
So for me it has to be poker that is the most fun.

For me it has to be blackjack. It may be a game of pure chance but it is quick and effortless and not ruled by sharks :D
