I went to the O2 arena at the weekend which is the new millennium dome in London. I went to see a few different lovers rock reggae artists that were playing in the IndigO2 which is inside the dome and holds about 1000 people. I was more than pissed off trying to get there as it took us about 3 hours just to get to it once we had reached London and my satnav went flat before we got there so had to rely on my google map to find the place. Then the 2 designated car parks were full so we wasted another 30 mins being redirected to another car park. Then to top it all off I was served a drink (non alcoholic) which gave me a blinding headache and made me violently sick, although a medic did come to my aid and she gave me some paracetamol. Aside from my illness, the gig itself was awesome, a lot of my favourite artists from the 80's including Janet Kaye who had a number 1 with 'silly games' in 1978.

Sounds like you had a nightmare! There was a couple of London clubs who had big football games at home on Saturday, which would explain the traffic. Next time catch a train :)

What he said, you should have caught a train, or at the very least parked up and caught the tube. London is crazy for traffic on a saturday, it's impossible to get anywhere fast. Glad to hear the gig was good, I like a bit of reggae myself ;) Janet Kaye must be getting on now, I remember her hit well from '78 during my teenage years and it still gets played a lot today.

I'm off to Bristol this weekend to see John Holt and The Temptations, should be a good night. They are on at the O2, I think i'll stay away from the bar though

Didnt need my satnav for Bristol, it's just down the road from me and I have been there before a couple of times :D Anyway, John Holt who is 62 now was as good if not better than he was when I saw him 25 years ago, I enjoyed his performance as he sung all his old classics. The Temptations was a different story  They looked the part in their white suits and doing their dance routines BUT you could not hear them properly, the sound engineer did a very poor job. :(

If you do ever go to the O2 in Bristol, make sure you are not early as they do not open the doors until the time it states on the tickets that it starts, which was 8pm when I went. I had got there at 7.10 and didn't fancy standing in a queue in the cold for 50 minutes so I went to the pub directly opposite it. If you not a fan of death rock and you dont want your ear drums perforated  stay away from this pub. Hmmm I wonder if that was why i couldn't hear The Temptations when they came on.

Hey bingo, I went to the O2 in Bristol last weekend and saw the same artists that you saw in London last year. It was Easter Lovers Rock Special and from what I saw it was the same group of artists playing... Janet Kaye, Sandra Cross, Trevor Walters, Michael Gordon, Peter Hunningale etc etc. It was a great night, the crowd was full and was loving it and the sound was brilliant. Before the show started we went next door to a restaurant which had an oriental buffet, eat as much as you want for £7.95 and the food their was fantastic.

That is true they open on time only and before. It doesn't matter for them how much long line is waiting for them?

I went there again at the weekend for a Valentines special to see Millie Jackson and Ken Boothe and on your advice was going to try the restaurant next door but when we got there at 7.45pm it was closed???? so had to walk into town again to eat but when we came out of the O2 later on for a smoke break about 9.45 it was open? ??

Not a clue why it wasn't open at 7.45, that does seem odd.

How was the show anyway? I used to love listening to Millie Jackson, not heard her for a while, she must be getting on now.

She's not far off 70  Also one of my favourite soul singers from the 70's, pity I didn't know she was on in Bristol, I may have been tempted to go see her.

Yep 67 this year. The show was fantastic, especially Millie Jackson who was really funny and interacted with the audience a lot just as you may have heard her on some of her live recordings. :D Ken Boothe, 63, however was not as sprightly and did look funny when dancing around the stage BUT he still sounded as good as he always has.

Did she perform any of her X rated songs?
