Peter was a compulsive gambler and rarely won, each night when he arrived at home his wife always demanded to know how much he had lost playing poker. One night Peter stayed out all night and walked into his home whilst his wife was eating breakfast and he could see that she was not happy. He turned to her and said "Please forgive me darling, I was at the bar and I had too much to drink and I ended up going home with the barmaid and sleeping with her"
"Nonsense" she yelled "So how much did you lose this time?"
