My little shelter is made from a couple of stout sticks lashed together and covered with long elephant grass so that from the outside it looks like part of the scenery. Inside it’s a different story. It have my comforts, a thick comfortable mattress, a small cooking stove and a table and chair where I sit and write the daily reports that I send back to headquarters. The main occupant of the table is my laptop which is connected to a generator which provides just enough power. The power is also enough to connect me to the online casino which is probably in Bermuda. I sit here logged in to the online casino while the fighting and killing rages outside in the bush. I keep the sound turned off and hope that the light from the small screen on the laptop won’t show through the leafy walls of my home-made casino. It’s mayhem outside, yelling and screaming fill the air accompanied by the continuous sound of gunfire. Hundreds of teenagers armed with Kalashnikov rifles are swarming around shooting at everything they see. I drop coins into the online slot machines and click away, unable to concentrate on the game. This is the Progressive Jackpot and as I watch it turns to $2,979,987, wow, almost 3 million dollars. Out here in the bush that is a fortune. “Play Max. Coins” warns another sign and I click on the “Play Max” button and watch the reels spinning. It finally happened at about 4 in the morning. I was tired beyond sleep, but there was nothing else to do. A light begins flashing on the screen of the laptop and I slam the lid closed in case it is seen from the outside. Under the blankets I peek. I have won the progressive jackpot in the online casino.
