Ski junkies are a race apart. Do you know that there are services on the internet where you subscribe and receive snow alerts. This allows you to jump into your car and race off to the nearest ski slope and feed your habit. Funny how one can become addicted to just about anything. Me, I carry my laptop with me wherever I go. I am not an online gambling addict but I hate to miss an opportunity. So when I find myself unexpectedly stuck in an empty ski lodge in the middle of summer and I find that the entire lodge is a wireless environment, I am in my element. I decide that I may not even send an email asking for help in getting me out of this place for the next 2 weeks. By that time my boss will have given my up as a permanent loss – until he remembers that I was carrying my laptop. Then he will understand that I am hiding out in some abandoned online casino until my money runs out. I gamble online to my heart’s content. I start with the slots, to get my fingers warmed up. I drop single coins in to make my money last longer and keep some for the heavy gambling that I hope is coming later. Once or twice I manage to line up 4 strawberries and I hear the bells jangling as I hit a small jackpot. And then a message comes up on the screen. “You Are Playing Slots in the Silver Spanner, The World’s Number One Online Casino. Play Max Coins and You Qualify For Our Progressive Jackpot! You Could Win Millions!” Of course I switch to the Max Coins button and it doesn’t take long. Even up here at twenty thousand feet, the online casinos are really online. My speakers are at Max volume and when the fire alarm of the progressive jackpot goes off, the manager comes racing out of his office to see what’s happened. Message to my boss – I am not coming back, ever! Posted on: October 27, 2007
