Miles from nowhere and the entire area, whole towns and villages, are crammed with empty hotels as the few permanent residents wait for the first snow to fall and with it the sound of cash register bells. Most of the hotels are in fact ski resorts and higher up, ski lodges, and most of them offer WiFi internet connections in their public areas so that the skiers will have a connection t the outer world. And then, of course, the skiers will also be able to do a spot of online gambling after a day of gambling with their lives up there on the mountain slopes. The rush of blood coming down a snow slope at full speed must be pretty high. After all, there is a chance of a fall, a tree or rock or even another skier out for the first time on shiny new skis. The rush one gets in online gambling is more or less confined to money, important or unimportant as it may be to the player. Online gambling is exciting and thrilling, but all you can lose is your money and perhaps a littler self confidence. I am no skier, that’s why I find myself on ski slopes before the white stuff starts to fall. I am much more at home in front of my laptop which is logged into the Silver Spanner, my favorite online casino. This is where I gamble and take my chances. Let’s see now, here’s an empty Texas Hold’em table. This is where I’ll get the best odds – just me and the dealer playing. “Deal me in,” I say and I put a $500 chip down on the cloth. He flops me two cards. I squeeze them apart and take a quick squint. What do you know, a pair of jacks! I push my pile of chips over to the middle of the table. Must be two thousand there. I watch as he puts down a 5 and a 9. Am I breathing hard or what? Here comes the river. Jack of spades! I need to go skiing? Posted on: October 18, 2007
