I dislike the autumn gardening. This is the time of the year when one has to prepare the garden for the coming winter so there’s a lot of cleaning up and preparation work involved. It’s all heavy work and it requires frequent trips to the little potting shed at the bottom of the garden where I can rest for a few minutes – and play a couple of hands of Texas Hold’em poker in the online casino.

I log into the online casino and go straight to the Texas Hold’em table. The game starts and the betting is heavy, very heavy. I’m not sure I want to stay in this big game but I am glued to my seat when the cards are dealt. I get a king and a 7 on the first hand and am about to fold and leave but I decide that anything is better than gardening. The flop is 7, Jack and Queen. I bet. The turn is a 7 meaning that everyone now has two 7’s except me. I have three. I bet again, higher this time and wait for the river. A king would give me a full house and of course another 7 would give me a straight win. I look at the jackpot and it is considerable. It would be a nice win and if I win I will go straight back to gardening, I promise myself.

The river comes down and I don’t believe it - another 7. I have a hand of four 7’s! The jackpot is mine and I stagger out of the shed, grab the handles of the wheelbarrow and push it along the pathway to where I was clearing the daisy bed at the top of the terrace. Online gambling is much more fun than gardening, I think, and in money terms it’s a lot more rewarding.

I clear the daisy bed and then head for the shed and sit down to play a few hands of Texas Hold’em while I get my breath back. But I have little luck in this session. I fold the first few hands, lose the next three and go back to the garden for more punishment.
