Online gambling can save your sanity

The recession is biting in deeper and deeper. Ordinary folk are losing their savings, their pensions and their sanity. People are forgetting what its like to relax and have a bit of fun as they see the results of their life’s work slowly waning leaving them facing a bleak future. I was like that up to a month ago. My pension, which is linked to some financial index, began to drop. It was slow at first and then it gathered speed. Every month the pension check was less causing me to cut back on some minor expense to compensate. Then it became serious and last month there was little left to cut back on. One day, in a fit of frustration at the direction my life has taken, I logged into an online casino and opened a whole new world.

I’m back inside that online casino every evening now and how I enjoy it. I play the lowest possible stakes, sometimes even a penny a spin or penny a card. Sometimes I win and sometimes I lose but an entire evening usually never costs me more than a couple of dollars and the entertainment is great.

Even more important is that the online gambling takes my mind off everything else. I’ve even stopped looking at my bank account on a daily basis and getting all depressed over the state of the overdraft. The bank manager can do that if he likes.

Last night I played 3-card poker in an online casino for the first time. I started off by playing according to all the well-known poker strategies, but soon found out that 3-card is a different game. I developed my own very simple system. If I was not holding at least one picture card, I folded. At least one picture card I played on. Soon I had racked up quite a nice pile of pennies and then I regretted that I was playing for such low stakes.

But I am determined to stick to my recession-gambling rules – “no bet higher than a penny”. This is the only way I can afford to be inside an online casino in times like these. Perhaps one day, when the recession is over, I’ll play for some real stakes.
