Tommy has to be collected from school at 1:30. I arrive in the nick of time, get him into the car and tear off to collect Jimmy at the junior which comes out at 1:45. I take the two boys home for lunch and I settle in the living room with my laptop while they eat. I have half an hour. I log into the online casino and play 3-card poker because it’s fast and I can get quite a few hands in while I wait. I fold if I am not dealt a picture card and play on everything else. It’s exciting and it takes a while before I hit a run of wins. As soon as I settle down into this winning streak it’s time to deliver Tommy to his swimming club. I take Jimmy and my laptop. At the pool, I tell Jimmy to swim laps in the end lane and I settle down to watch with my laptop on my lap in an uncomfortable chair. I go back to the 3-card poker game in the online casino but I have lost the momentum. I play the slot machines using the credits from my earlier wins. Tommy is doing well in the 50 meter crawl and Jimmy is dog-paddling up and down. I hear a bell ringing and look down at the computer. I have hit a jackpot, not the progressive, which is standing just short of 2 million dollars, but a minor one of about $120. The swimming ends at 4:00 and I have to pick up Sally at the high school by 4:15. We make it with a minute to spare. Back home again I go into the online casino and try the 3-card poker again. This time it’s better and I am soon winning again, slowly but surely. I up the amount of my bets and then Sally is yelling that she’s late for her ballet class. I dash back to the car and we make the wild drive through the traffic. Sally goes inside to dance and I sit in the car and log back into the online casino. Again I try the slots and I am content to sit dropping $1 coins into the slot, barely able to stay awake. Posted on: July 24, 2009
