For two weeks before they arrived the kitchen in our apartment was a hive of activity - cooking, baking, storing and freezing were the operative words and actions. I happily gambled away online during all this preparation time. Then the guests arrived and I reluctantly shut down my computer, promising to be back for some online casino action in two weeks, as soon as the guests departed. We settled down in the living room with tea and cake and caught up on old times. I noticed that the male half of the couple kept looking at his watch and finally, I asked what was bothering him. “The race is about to start,” he said. “Can you turn that TV set on?” I obliged and as the picture came on I saw a motorbike race about to start. All these huge shiny machines are lined up on the starting grid, with engines revving. “They’re off!” yelled my guest. That was on Monday and that was the last time I heard him speak. Five minutes into the oh-so-boring-race I excused myself and went back to my study and switched on my online gambling terminal. I logged into a game of Texas Hold’em and I have been at the same table for a week now. I assume that my guest is still frozen in front of the TV and I hope he is enjoying himself as much as I am. I have betted and bluffed my way to a huge pile of chips and I cannot do anything wrong. True I have folded many times over the past days, but now the excitement of positive bluffing is sweeping me along and I am betting on the lowest hands possible and scaring the other guys at the table into folding. Normally the best hand wins in Texas Hold’em but that’s only true if the hand is played out by everyone at the table. It’s when the players fold because they think they cannot possibly win with the cards they have that the bluffing comes into its own. So I’m in my online casino, guest is in on the motor bike track, wives are at the mall and all is well. Posted on: June 30, 2008
