My wife and her dedicated bridge mates are playing out there in the living room. I am out of sight here in my study but it’s close enough to hear bridge-noise, even through the closed door. I can hear the clicking of the cards and their tongues as they seem to get bad cards one deal after another. Why don’t they come into the room with me, I wonder. Here I am, logged into the Silver Spanner and winning oodles of cash in the online casino while they sit and complain. I will never understand the preference of playing that staid old game of bridge which they claim is good for the memory cells when they could be busy with online gambling and actively employing every single cell in their brains. Whatever they say, online gambling is highly stimulating. Nothing will get the blood corpuscles racing through the pipes like the little ivory roulette ball falling into the number you placed your bet on. The background sound and the graphics on an online casino site are designed to raise your level of excitement and expectation. The clicking of the cards at the blackjack table is far more stimulating to the human senses than the clicking of cards at a bridge table. How come they don’t play bridge in the online casinos anyway? The answer is probably that no one would play. Online casinos are built for fun and excitement, not for dull conversation with tea and scones. Come with me into the online casino - now you have a choice: What’s you game, sir - a few rubbers of bridge or a couple of rolls with the crap dice? It’s a bit like comparing sitting down to a table of Texas Hold’em poker or scrunching down over the coffee table and playing a game of solitaire?
