I took a major decision today. I am going to install a laptop in the steering wheel of my car. I’m sick of sitting in traffic with nothing to do except drum my fingers on the wheel or listen to the interminable ads on the radio. I could be deep inside some online casino raking in the shekels while I wait. Sometimes I’m sure I’m sitting in a parking lot. Nothing moves for ages then all of a sudden we all zoom forward exactly one car-space. I’ve had enough of it! The deed is done. I bought this sort of mini laptop. It’s small and compact and very thin and according to the computer man, can do absolutely everything. Maybe I’ll work on my book as well. I fixed it to the center part of the steering wheel with Velcro so that it can be removed in a flash at the sudden arrival of a cop or some other nosey parker. So this morning on the way to the office, using Route 4 which is always clogged, I signed into the Silver Spanner online casino and played some craps. I thought that craps, which is not a continuous game in that the action moves in fits and starts, would be highly suitable for heavy traffic that moves in fits and starts as well. I won! Oh boy, did I win in that online casino! I went out at lunch time and walked to the motor showroom part of town; I spent a lot of time staring through the windows of the Jaguar showroom. I can’t make up my mind between the British racing Green or the silver model. One more craps session on the way to work and that Jag is mine. When I think of the accumulated hours I have sat in traffic doing nothing when I could have been gambling online I can kick myself. But it’s not too late. I will make up for it now. I wonder if they can build the laptop into the steering wheel of the Jag instead of sticking it on with Velcro? Posted on: May 25, 2007
