It’s a vicious circle. If you are a pensioner, you have lots of spare time on your hands. That means you can gamble online. But to gamble online you need money. But if your pension is low, you have no money to spare for frivolous activities. After trying to find the end of this impossible equation for months, I finally took a job so I can earn some money that I can spend on gambling. But what kind of job could I get? There’s always the junk-mail route but pulling a trolley is hard work so I settled for a night job. Now I sit near a glowing brazier huddled up in my old army coat, but I have my laptop and I am near the offices at the oil refinery where the WiFi system spills out and gives me access to the internet. What if intruders or thieves arrive? I’m sure I’ll hear them. So first night on the job I brew up some thick coffee to keep me awake and log into the Silver Spanner, my favorite online casino and I head straight from the lobby to the video poker slots. I play on the $1 machine but I play only maximum bets because that way I can win the jackpot. So it means that every game is $5. I play and play and my balance goes up and down. After half an hour I am where I started. It’s not much fun. I decide to note every result accurately and pull out my notebook. It looks like this for the next 30 spins: Losses - 18; 1 pair – 5; 2 pairs – 4; 3 of a kind – 3. Result: I spent $90 and won back $110. That’s not bad for a night watchman, I think. I spent about half an hour on that and in addition, I am being paid about $10 per hour. Taking into account that this is all tax free money I may just decide to become a professional night watchman after all and spend all my time in the online casinos! Posted on: April 10, 2008
