The family was delighted when they heard about the open house. Our place is permanently bursting at the seams with paintings and half finished paintings. “This is where we get rid of all this stuff,” said my wife confidently. We framed pictures, made little ‘fixes’, signed my name and hung everything up. Coffee and home-made cookies were strategically placed and the doors flung open. I retired behind my desk and logged into the Silver Spanner online casino just in case no one arrived. I needn’t have worried. The villagers descended like vultures, snapping up paintings, coffee, cookies and everything else they could lay their hands on. It is quite possible that someone out there even went off with an empty picture frame! I sat quietly through the madness while my gallery-manager-wife negotiated prices, beat off the bargain hunters and assured the doubtful about my artistic capabilities. I was locked deeply in a game of roulette, using the credit in my deposit account and not gambling with the proceeds of the sale. Unfortunately my creativity on canvas does not extend to online gambling and I lost a few hundred during the morning. The afternoon was better and I managed a few small wins in the roulette table which made me feel better. At about 4, I was up quite a bit and I switched to playing with $10 chips. I confidently dropped one chip on my birthday, 23. After all, this was my day right? Sure enough, 23 came up. I left the entire win of $350 on 23 and dropped another chip on 15, my wife’s birthday. Online gambling is quite unpredictable and even I was stunned when 23 came up again. I now had won $12,000 and was facing a major question – should I leave it all for a third spin? But that’s impossible, the odds are so great. Good sense prevailed and I picked up my winnings and switched off the computer just as my wife burst into the room grinning from ear to ear. “How much?” I asked. “$8,000!” she yelled.
