When you live in an isolated place all by yourself, it’s easy to let things slide. You don’t bother to cook meals, you don’t make up the bed and you don’t clean the floors regularly. You seem to live on the edge of nowhere all the time. So when the power went out two weeks ago, I shrugged, lit a candle for minimum light and started going to bed early. But after a week that became boring too. I began to miss my regular evening pastime, gambling online. I pulled out my laptop which is the one thing I always keep fully charged, plugged in my air phone gadget and settled down to an evening session, vowing to get the generator going again in the morning. After half an hour on the slot machines I was back in the swing of things and really enjoying myself. I checked my credit balance in the online casino. That’s something else I keep charged for emergencies. You never know when you will get an opportunity of doing a little online gambling and it would be a pity to log in find you have no funds to play with. I was okay, my balance standing just over a thousand dollars. I exited to the lobby and entered the casino again at the video poker games. I love playing the 3-card poker and soon I had built up my credit balance to $1,300 by betting only when I was dealt at least 2 high cards and folding on anything less. After an hour I switched to blackjack and started playing with $20 chips. I find this the easiest way to win money in the online casino, but you have to play carefully and thoughtfully. Blackjack limits the dealer in his decision-making and this is what lets the player in and allows him to win slowly but surely. Of course I forgot that I was playing on the laptop battery and the warning, when it comes is short and sharp. “You are about to lose power… zap!” I wonder what my credit balance is?
