A sirocco has struck. The weather changed from mid-winter to mid-summer within a few hours! There’s hot wind blowing from the sea, everyone and everything is parched dry including me. I have a bottle of red in one hand and a bottle of white in the other, but nothing seems to help. Nothing is stable. Spins of the roulette wheel in the online casino jump from red to black and the odds and evens game looks like it’s being played by a crazy old witch. Nothing works and I watch with dismay as my pile of chips dribbles down the drain. Finally I am left with 5 dollars. Not much of a stake at a roulette table, is it? One spin of $5 or 5 spins of $1? I waver for a moment and then I go for broke. I carefully drop the $5 chip in the center of number 7, my sometimes lucky number. I look away and keep an ear open for the clickety-click of the little white ball. The ball stops and I force myself to keep my eyes closed. “No more bets” says the metallic voice and again comes the clickety-click of the little white ball. I still keep my eyes closed. Again the clicking ball routine. I wait for a few breathless moments than I squeeze them open. There is a message. “This is an illegal bet. If you win you will be exceeding this online casino’s limit. Kindly remove your winnings.” Imagine that. I have won over $6,000. If I leave that amount as a bet and it comes up, I will be winning over $200,000, way past the online casino’s limit. I am happy with my 6 grand. For a roulette ball to fall on the same number 3 times in 3 consecutive spins is most unusual, in itself a very long odds event. Now I have money to spend. And guess what, the sirocco has passed, there is a cool breeze blowing in from the sea and winter is back. Everything is back to normal again. Posted on: March 18, 2008
