Today I am starting the other way around. I have a subject. It’s simple and if I manage to do what I have in mind, it will be a stunning painting. The painting is simple. A young woman is walking along the beach. On her right the waves washing up onto the sand, behind her mountains and all around her, sea gulls. The colors are soft light blues and pinks. The overall effect is one of peacefulness and harmony, and has no connection to the online casino I have just logged into on my computer. The online casino is bright colors, loud music and dramatic graphics, things flashing around the screen, the world ‘bonus’ screaming at you from every angle and this is what an online casino should be. But back to the painting. I prepare my canvas with a primer coat. It will take an hour to dry. See what I mean about multi-tasking? Think I’ll play some roulette while I wait. $5 chips. This is not serious money-making gambling. My birthday is always a good bet for me so I drop two chips on number 23. Number 23 comes up and I have a bank roll of $350 to play with. I go next door to the studio to check on the primer and I see that it is drying evenly. Back at the online casino I place chips on the family birthdays. I also leave $20 in chips lying on my faithful number 23. I drop $10 on black and another $10 on evens for fun. This time the ball drops into number 8, Tommy’s birthday. I collect $175 on Tommy, $20 on the black and another $20 on the even number. Not bad for some interim online gambling! Next door I see that the primer is dry and I’m ready to start outlining the young lady on the beach. The outlining goes well but it is painstaking work and full of corrections in different color paints. After an almost an hour’s work on this I go to the study, slump into my comfortable chair and play online slots until I feel relaxed. There is nothing quite like slot machines and poker slots to get one relaxed. I alternate between the painting and the online casino. A great mixture! Posted on: February 5, 2009
