It always goes like this. First the letter. We will be visiting in your town in 3 months time. Will you be available to take us to see Auntie Doris and Uncle Henry? It’s years since we’ve seen them. You write back and tell that Auntie Doris is in the grips of deep Alzheimer’s and doesn’t recognize anyone and as for Uncle Henry, he has moved to a small plot up on the hill inside the town cemetery. But you will be happy to take them around anyway. They reply, great and would you mind so much picking us up at the airport? And that’s where you get in your first session of visiting relative sponsored online gambling. You also lose just about every online game you try while sitting in the lounge watching all the delayed flights arriving. The visit to Aunt Doris is a disaster. Firstly the reception people at the facility where she is put up a big argument about anyone visiting her. After much pleading by the long-lost cousins, they agree to let them in. They point at me and say I have to wait in the lounge. This is exactly why I am carrying my laptop. I have been here before and I can vouch for their WiFi connection system. It takes me only three minutes to get into the online casino and another 2 to find out that I have a $500 plus balance in my deposit account. I log into the roulette game, knowing that I am about to have a disturbed morning. I drop a few $20 chips on the table, spin the wheel and look up to see them coming back looking grim. They come over to me and tell me that Aunt Doris is pretty far gone, doesn’t remember them and can I take them back to the hotel. I log out and we leave. In the car they remember Uncle Henry up on the hill. This upsets me as there is no internet connection up there, meaning no online gambling while I wait. And they will probably spend a lot of time talking to Uncle Henry who will be a great listener and won’t give them any arguments.
