The weather is wicked, midwinter electrical storms that blow out circuits and play havoc with anything as sensitive as a computer. I understand that I could lose my entire hard disk in a flash. But there is no point going out to work, no one will be around today and I will just have to forfeit the $30 to $40 an hour that I can make as a freelancer. Of course, a little voice whispers in my head, you could stay indoors and do the same in an online casino. Yes, but that means switching on my computer and maybe being wiped out by lightning, I whisper back. $40 an hour is almost guaranteed on the blackjack table, persists the whisper. Remember The Four Horsemen of Aberdeen? The Four Horsemen was the team of blackjack players who developed the card counting system and took the Las Vegas casinos to the cleaners. How could I forget the world’s greatest blackjack players? If The Four Horsemen of Aberdeen could do it, so can you. Just log in and you’ll see. So I fall for the soothing voice and log into the online casino, hoping the lightning will move south, maybe as far as Antarctica. Of course I am not a trained card counter and I am only one person playing in the online casino while The Four Horsemen worked as a four-man team, each counting his section of the cards. But I do make some headway and I win small amounts of money on the blackjack table. Whether it is $40 per hour, I am not sure but after a couple of hours I am up quite a bit, and what’s more important, I am really enjoying myself. I try and think about The Four Horsemen and how they must have felt when they knew they were keeping ahead of the casinos. I also read about the new movie called “21” that will be released this year, a movie which is based on blackjack. Of all the online casino games that are played these days, snow or shine, it is on blackjack that money can be made. I may never go back to working! Posted on: February 8, 2008
